1956年、映画文化や映画芸術など、映画産業の発展を目的に活動する映画産業団体連合会（一般社団法人）が制定しています。この日付は、1896年11月25日～12月1日、神戸倶楽部が日本初の映画の一般公開したこの期間中で、一番キリが良い日のとして決められました。
国内初の映画上映
国内で初めて映画が上映されたのは、神戸港でした。そしてその映画は、エジソンが発明した世界初の映写機「キネトスコープ」での上映となり、1896年花隈の神港倶楽部で11月に初めて一般公開されています。その後の日本映画は、大衆の娯楽として全国各地で発展していきました。
映画の日は何がある？
映画の日になると、映画の入場料が割引になり、他にたくさんの催し物が行われます。例えば、特別招待興行、地域での関連行事など映画館で観ることの魅力を皆に広めるためのイベントが数多くあります。
「映画の日」中央式典
2019年11月29日の「映画の日」中央式典では、障害者の芸術文化振興議員連盟会長 であり、一億総活躍・少子化担当大臣でもある「衛藤晟一」より、一般社団法人映画産業団体連合会の会長「大谷信義」と日本映画製作者連盟(一般社団法人)の会長である「岡田裕介」に感謝状が贈られています。
やはり映画館は迫力
映画を観る時は、DVDやネット配信で観ているという方がほとんどでしょう。しかし、新作をどうしても観たい場合は、映画館に行かないと観れません。その時に誰もが違いに気づくあの迫力。そのおかげか、感動も普段より倍増することがあります。大画面TVやVRが迫り来る世の中でも、音や映像だけではない魅力が、いったい何処にあるのでしょう。
